Events

Gabriella Szabó will take part in the workshop on Comparing National Experiences of European Integration which is organised as a part of the ECPR Joint Sessions of Workshops. Gabriella will present her reseach on the 2010-2011's European debate on the Hungarian Media Regulation. The workshop will be held on 10-15 April 2012 (Antwerp, Belgium). 

The PKK has recently joined to the COST Action 'Transforming Audiences, Transforming Society'. This is a 4-year-long science networking project which is funded and coordinated by the European Science Foundation. The aim of the Action is to coordinate research efforts into the key transformations of European audiences within a changing media and communication environment, identifying their complex interrelationships with the social, cultural and political areas of European societies. Gabriella Szabó will represent PKK at Annual Conference of the Media&Politics Group of the British Political Studies Association. The event will be on November 3-4 at the Bournemouth University (UK). Gabriella will present her research on the online govenment communication of the Hungarian EU Presidency. Download the paper here.

Zsuzsanna Mihályffy is invited to the 6th ECPR General Conference (25th-27th August 2011, Reykjavik, Iceland). Zsuzsanna will present her current research on the social media use in the 2010 General Election campaign in Hungary.

Balázs Kiss and Gabriella Szabó will take part in the IAMCR Conference ’Cities, Creativity, Connectivity’ Session for ’Post-Socialist and Post-Authoritarian Communication’. The event will be held in Istanbul, Turkey from July 13 to 17 2011. Our paper is based on a theroretical and empirical research attempt as identifing the trends of contemporary political communication.

Gabriella Szabó will represent PKK at the 17th Annual Conference of the Hungarian Political Science Association. Gabriella will contribute to the work of the Panel ’Comparing Political Communication in European Union Countries’ (May 20-21 2011, Budapest, Hungary). The title of her presentation is ’Trends in political communication: a post-socialist experience in 20 years after the fall of dictatorship in Hungary'.

Zsolt Boda was invited to the Conference ’Trust, Consent and the Rule of Law’ on 13-14 May 2011 (London, UK).  Zsolt will present one of the latest PKK study on the media effects on public attitudes towards crime and justice. This the closing event of the EUROJUSTIS project, funded by the EU FP7 activity, in which PKK acts as a consortium member. The Sage Publication Ltd is processing a special issue of the European Journal of Criminology on procedural justice. This edition contains an article which summarizes the PKK researches on the possible media effects on people’s mind about crime and justice. The title of the publication is ’Media and attitudes towards crime and the justice system: a qualitative approach’ (authors: Zsolt Boda and Gabriella Szabó). The special issue is due to be published in July 2011.
